Horse transport firms vary enormously in quality and care of the horses themselves.

Here are some frequently asked questions to put your mind at rest about Victor Gache Horse Transport Ltd.

Terms and Conditions

All horses should be insured for transportation. Whilst our driver takes all reasonable precautions and we are insured to transport horses for hire and reward, in the event of an accident, the customer is liable for any damage, injury or death that occurs to, or is caused by, their horse.

Should a horse we are transporting become unwell or very unsettled during a journey, we reserve the right to contact the nearest vet for treatment or sedation if deemed necessary. The customer will be liable for any veterinary expenses and any delay incurred.

Victor Gache Horse Transport Ltd and its employees will take all reasonable precautions; however, in the event of an accident please note that you are personally liable for your horse in the event of injury or damage sustained to or by your horse.

The customer will be liable for the cost of repair of any damage caused to our horsebox, by their horse. There will be an opportunity to inspect the lorry for any existing damage before the journey.

It is suggested that you take out the appropriate insurance to cover yourself against any accident or damage sustained to or by your horse.

A limited amount of tack and other belongings / equipment may be carried at the customer’s risk. All passengers must wear seatbelts during transport.

Please ensure your horse has a valid passport. This is a legal requirement during transportation. The original document must be given to the driver before the start of the journey.

Unless with prior agreement in writing, we shall have absolute discretion as to the means and route your horses will take, the shortest route is not always best for the horses comfort.

We withhold the right to pass on any extra costs as a result of inaccurate information being given at time of booking. Any additional costs we incur due to maters outside of our control will also be passed on, this includes any unreasonable time spent try to load your horse. Our quotes allow for no more 20 minutes of loading time.

We withhold the right to charge a cancellation fee of up to 50% if cancelled later than 48 hours prior to booking date

Absolutely. Absolutely. Victor Gache Horse Transport Ltd holds full UK and International licenses for horse transport, the vehicles are all DEFRA approved, and we hold an Advanced Certificate in Equine Transport.

A horse transport operator must be an Authorised Animal Transporter holder with either Type 1 or Type 2 authorisation. Type 1 is for journeys over 65km and up to 8 hours in duration. Type 2 covers both long and short journeys. The certificate must be carried at all times so please do ask to see it if you wish.

Yes – all of our  transporters are Low Emission Zone compliant for cost efficient horse transportation in the London area.

All the horses are visually monitored by CCTV from the cab whilst in transport. Also, all the lorries have temperature monitoring to ensure the horses remain at the appropriate temperature at all times.

Yes, we can transport horses both forward facing and in herringbone formation so if your horse prefers one or the other you just have to let us know. Your horse’s comfort is our main priority.
