Victor Gache Horse Transport Ltd

Terms of Business

All horses should be insured for transportation. Whilst our drivers take all reasonable precautions and we are insured to transport horses for hire and reward, in the event of an accident, the customer is liable for any damage, injury or death that occurs to, or is caused by, their horse.

Should a horse we are transporting become unwell or very unsettled during a journey, we reserve the right to contact the nearest vet for treatment or sedation if deemed necessary. The customer will be liable for any veterinary expenses and any delay incurred.

The customer will be liable for the cost of repair of any damage caused to our horsebox by their horse. There will be an opportunity to inspect the lorry for any existing damage before the journey.

A limited amount of tack and other belongings / equipment may be carried at the customer’s risk. All passengers must wear seatbelts during transport.

Please ensure your horse has a valid passport. This is a legal requirement during transportation. The original document must be given to the driver before the start of the journey.

Unless with prior agreement in writing, we shall have absolute discretion as to the means and route your horses will take, the shortest route is not always best for the comfort of horses.

We reserve the right to pass on any extra costs as a result of inaccurate information being given at time of booking. Any additional costs we incur due to matters outside of our control will also be passed on, this may include any excessive time spent trying to load your horse. Our quotes allow for up to 20 minutes of loading time.

We reserve the right to charge a cancellation fee of up to 50% if cancelled later than 48 hours prior to booking date.

We reserve the right to refuse to transport a horse if, in our opinion, it is not fit to complete the proposed journey.

Additional conditions for International journeys:

We reserve the right to pass on any additional costs incurred due to delays beyond our control (force majeure) such as bad weather, industrial action at ports or other train/ferry delays. Such costs may include additional overnight stabling, driver time or amendments to paperwork.

Where import tax/duty is payable, an invoice will be produced for each horse once all Customs paperwork has been processed. These must be settled by return to avoid delays with production of clearance documents. Full payment to VGHT Ltd will also be required prior to commencement of an international journey.
